A unique museum in the artists' former home

The Oluf Høst Museum owns an extensive collection of Oluf Høst’s paintings exhibited in the very place where they were created. Each year we also present two new special exhibitions, one in Høst’s villa and the other in his summer studio, which is situated in the museum’s attractive rock garden.

In 2024, Oluf Høst would have turned 140 years old, and the museum opens its doors for the season on Høst’s birthday, March 18th. Already in his lifetime, Oluf Høst was a recognized artist. In this year’s special exhibition ‘Dangerous Liaisons: Gudhjem – Berlin – Paris’, we shed light on the encounter between the established Høst and the young surrealist artists who came to Gudhjem in the 1930s. In the summer studio, visitors can visit or revisit the site-specific total installation ‘The Noise of Silence’ by the internationally acclaimed visual artist Michael Kvium.
